08 Expy wheel and tire help
Ok so this may have been asked before, but I was not able to find it on the forums anywhere. I have an 08 expy xlt 2wheel dr. I want to put some rims and tires on it but im not sure whats gonna be the best fit, and not sure what will fit. I would like either 20's because I want to keep a smooth ride and for rim protection (my wife drives it sometimes) so i want some rubber on the wheel. Or 22s, but will a 305/ 40 or 45/22 fit under my vehicle stock without any rubbing or cutting involved? Also in your honest opinions, would 20s look to small on an 08 expy??? Please feel free to comment, and your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum...I suspect you will get more traffic in the wheels and tires section.
But I don't think 20's would look too small...heck I don't think the factory 18's look that bad but if you got money in your pocket burning a hole, knock yourself out.
I had 20's on my F150, they were way too heavy, started going through breaks like mad. I wouldn't get an 4x4 set of 20's that are real heavy. Just my .02

I think the 20's fit it just fine. IMO the 22's on a 4x2 will be overkill...great on a 4x4 because of the extra height.
Mine with 20's is below.
2008 Expy EL
275/55/20 Ford Rims
4x2
btw, you can see how little sidewall my tires have. do you really want even less sidewall on a 6,000+ lb vehicle? potholes can really cause some damage
oh yeah, thanks for the inspiration Welfare Wagon. I ditched my Dodge for the Expy. Very very satisfied with it.

My Limited came with the 20's on 275 55 20's. In my eyes, they looked small and I always loved the Saleen wheels. So I went for the 23's. I got the 305 40 23's on there and with my calculations they were within 2/3" of overall height of the tire. This was actually extremely important because I only had an inch and a half clearance in my garage and didnt really want to park outside. And it still goes in the garage with no problem. 305 40 works but I think the fit and look and the sidewall will be better with 305 45.
