Simple DIY mod, pretty quick and cheap and in my opinion worth the effort. Just cleans up the look of the truck and for my situation, continues the blacking out theme

So i took the cowl off and just washed it and cleaned w/ rubbing alcohol then i used some rust-oleum all surface paint (we had some in the garage for when my brother painted the plastic grill on his d max)...you can probably find some better paint but that stuff worked fine...i sprayed 3 coats (first light then the next couple heavier) and 2 coats of clear
The only thing is, just because of the nature of the surface, paint doesnt adhere very well so i probably shouldve done a light sand or used a better primer because when i reinstalled them i got a couple of scratches
