99 Lightning wheels on the X
I was wondering if anyone has put the 1999 Lighting wheels on there X. I would also like to know if there were any offset issues. The Lighting wheels are 1.5 in wider where is that 1.5 going. Also what tire did you use? I would like to stay around 30” OD. I went to tirerack and they had Yokohama that look to be a close fit. Any input would be great.

Rdsii,
I have '99-00 L wheels on my '00 Expy. Fit fine. No rubbing or anything. I am not sure what the offset/backspacing is on the wheels, but they fit great. Take a look at my webpage and you'll get a decent view of them and how they sit.
They don't stick out too far, if that's what you're concerned with, and I have no rubbing inside even turning the wheel lock to lock.
I, too, wanted to keep the stock diameter tire height, so I went with some Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires... 285/55-18. This should put you right at ~30". The stock L tires are great, but are much shorter.

I ordered mine directly from Tire Rack. They mounted and balanced the tires and everything...shipped them to my door. All I had to do was jack the truck up and install them.
I believe they are $175/wheel through Tire Rack...very competitive.

I installed SVO wheels with 285/60/18 Michelin Pilots. Also lowered 1 1/2" in front using Eibach springs. Great combo that improved handling and ride.
I did have to bent the brakeline hose bracket back towards the frame to solve rubbing problem, and used rounded head bolts insteat of square head bolts to resecure the brackets. Without the fix, the rim would have rubbed the rim (not the tire). Once done, all is well.
