Post LIfted Expy pics, Please!!!

Hi I am thinking of getting an expedition 4x4 next summer and if I do get one i will lift it with a 4-inch suspension lift and hopefully some 35x14.50. If Any one has pictures of a lifted "X" please post them.

Thanks

hey eriko,
do your 35s rub at all.I love the setup on your expedition its real nice. If I got the 4 inch trailmaster kit and cranked the torsion bars an inch or two do you think i could fit 36x12.50's TSL Radials in there. Would those rub more or less on a 8 or 10 inch wide rim.

Thanks for the help

Eriko - Super truck - I love it! One question - how do you like the 4" lift? Any problems?

JDm...

My 35's clear the front and rear when turning about an inch! Keep in mind the wheels are 8" positive offset...so not much tire sticks out from the fender. If you use standard offset with a 36x12.5...they might rub a bit or you may need to do a bit of trimming, fender well mods!

I wouldn't advise the torsion crank...you will go through CV boots like you wouldn't beleive!

As far as overall satisfaction..."7" out of 10! The look is awesome and the ride is just like stock. I have had a few issues though...

There is a driveline angle/vibration issue with this kit...the problem is, only some trucks will develop it. I had to work with several shops and Trailmaster to get it resolved. I ended up having to rotate my rear axle pinion angle up to eliminate it!
Trailmaster is aware of the problem and is either disclosing at time of purchase or has resolved it...either way...check it out!

Also...don't get the SSV shocks...they are too soft for the Expedition. I would get the regular ones (model # ?)

If I had to do it all over again...I would have spent the money on some trick 20" wheels and tires and called it a day...especially when I watch a Dateline episode on SUV roll-overs and my wife glares at me the whole time!

If you have any more question...feel free to drop me an e-mail...I'll give my $.02!

Erik

Thanks for the heads-up Eriko!
About the shocks, what do you mean by "too soft?" The SSV shocks are included in the kit, right?
What shocks are you using?
I found a Rancho kit, do you know anything about that unit?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Bigworm...

Here's my $.02 on the SSV's...

The rear of the expedition is a little too heavy for the SSV shocks. Since the rear of the EX has coils...it tends to be a bit soft and leans into the corners (especially at slow speeds due to the progressive rate valving). Also, it was really wobbly (sp?) on rougher roads under 40 MPH. The front was never a problem...great ride!

So, on the advice of another EX owner with the same application...he recommended that I switch to the regular gas charged Invader N7 Trailmaster shock for a stiffer ride.

I noticed a little bit of difference when I changed them...but I still could probably benefit from a larger rear sway bar!

I think you can order the kit with what ever kind of shocks you want...I would compare the N7's to the rancho RS5000...whereas the SSV's were like a factory shock.

If you are serious about a lift kit for an EX...I would look at Rancho or ProComp... not to bash Trailmaster...but I just don't think their Expedition "rear" kit is engineered that well.

Another thing to consider...like I said before...some 19" or 20" wheels with some trick lower profile tires looks pretty damn sweet! I have seen a few around!

Also...the 285x75x16's or the 305/70/16's will fit without the lift...the 305's look really good on stock applications...look in the forums...there are some pix!

good luck!

Erik
