2003 expy 5.4 replace

Locally there is a 2003 Expy, 5.4, leather, front/rear heat, tow pkg that has what owner says is a stuck engine. I believe it has close to 100,000 miles. She wants to get rid of it before the city makes her move it. What is something like this worth? I thought of offering $1,000 then putting junkyard engine in it to sell for a profit. How tough is this engine replacement job? It can come out the top right? I've got the engine hoist and the tools.

you might have to pull the front clip apart. give you more room to yank the motor.

but yeah, this is a super easy job. I'd just be concerned about her diagnostic abilities. Is it electrical, mechanical...both.

but for $1,000...you can't go wrong IMO. the tranny alone would offset 1/2 that cost if you had to part the Expy out

go for it.

If she takes $1k thats a deal. Parting it out will get that plus imo

Thanks. I'd like to get it for 1,000 and find out it's a stuck starter. I know thats wishful thinking but let's hope it goes well.
