Do you have a picture of you X with the rear spoiler? E-mail me if you do.

Also, did the new fog bulbs really help? I mean are they brighter?

jmartinb,

I think I'm going to try something else. I'm going to replace the sway bar bushings with the polyurethane ones.

It's pretty cheap (about $20 for the set) and I know of someone that did this with an old 4x4 K-5 and it was a huge improvement. I'll probably do front and rear.

I haven't looked at yet but I would think the bushings could be replaced really easily.

We'll see. And if you haven't seen my ranting and raving in "suspensions", I'm still trying to get Edelbrock to tell me that they have IAS for mine all the way around! I think they do, but when I tell them about the rear LLS I believe they are confusing it with the 4 corner LLS on the 4x4 which is very different. Geesh, I'm working to hard to try to give them some business.

Thumbs up Hellwig Read Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Just upgrade the OEM rear anti-sway bar with a Hellwig. Yes, it made a very big difference in the handling\ride of this vehicle. It stiffens up the ride allthe way around, without making it harsh. Along with the Edelbrock IAS shocks, it has taking out almost all of the lateral roll. It feels like you have better control of the truck. IMHO, Ford should have went with this 1&1/8"-inch bar from the factory.

I highly recommend this suspension upgrade. BTW, I got this from TruckProducts inside of a week with no problems.

hdlouie-
I'll take one for you in the next day or two. I'll need your email address.

FamilyRide-
Your idea about upgrading the bushings is a good one. But, I'm afraid it may not give you the results you are looking for. The OEM rear anti-sway bar is 7/8" in diameter. The Hellwig is 1&1/8" in diameter. From driving it around this weekend, that 1/4" makes a big difference is the stability\handling of the rear of our vehicles.
My same neighbor did the installation on the Hellwig as well, and he had no issues with it. On a lift, it took about 40 minutes.

If you haven't already thought of it, how about this for a suspension upgrade? Put the Edelbrocks in the front(if possible due to the LLS), and install a Hellwig on the read. That way you are reducing a great portion of the lateral roll and "bobbing", while waiting for Edelbrock to produce a shock upgrade for the rear.

BTW, Hellwig now has a front sway bar upgrade for our vehicle. Based upon the improvement on my Expy with the rear bar, I am SERIOUSLY contemplating doing the front one as well.

How about the fog light bulbs, are they any brighter?

hdlouie-
The fog lights from Roger at the Online Store have a blue tint to them, and they are brighter than stock. Given that I have a Wedgewood Blue Expy, it suits my vehicle perfectly.

Overall, the superwhite replacement headlamps and foglamps improve the line of sight, and look great. I recommend the change.

Question

Can anyone tell me if Hellwig makes an anti-sway bar for use with the 4x4, 4 corner LLS? I have emailed Hellwig with no response. I am interested in replacing both the front and rear on my '99 EB Expy.

Thanks for the help.

Prostartjh, NOt sure that Hellwig does but check out truckperformance.com. they have another one for the 4x4 Expy, although much more expensive but it is a complete set, front and rear.

jmartinb, I think you've talked me into to Hellwig. I finally got Edelbrock to admit the part numbers for the IAS for mine too. truckperformance has their free shipping going on again so I might just order the Edelbrocks and Helwig.

By the way, I looked into the bushings I mentioned. No go. They were too generic for me. I've found complete bushing sets, but not for the Expedition, not even for Ford trucks for that matter. If I could find a bushing kit, that was specific to the Expy, I'd do it because I think it would make a big difference. But what the heck, my sway bar is dirty. plus, it may just be the way the bushings are made, but it almost looks lik the oem bushings are torn. I know I'm not THAT hard on it.

Glad to hear you had some luck with Edelbrock and the shocks. Coupled with the Hellwig, you will be very pleased with the improved handling and response.

Keep us posted on your upgrades...

Unhappy

Ok,, I've given up on Edelbrock. I finally got someone to go do some research and confirm 100%, Edelbrock, despite the ambiguous application guide, do not have a rear shock for the 2 WD Expedition with rear LLS. IN fact, they go as far to say that Edelbrock doesn't have ANY shock for that vehicle. For some reason they really want to keep their shocks off of this truck.

Now I'm bummed. My second choice is Bilstein that do make shock specificly for the 2WD rear LLS, but I've heard they are a bit harsh as far as ride, although hold up much better that Edelbrock under heavy duty or off road conditions. I don't do either so in the Bilstein dealer opinion, I'm a perfect fit for the Edelbrocks. Drag....

So what's up with these Monroe's that have a similar technology to Edelbrock???

BlueOvalOK,

How do you like the Ranchos on your 2 WD? I want to get Edelbrocks but they don't make them for the 2 wd with rear LLS so I'm out of luck. I've always looked at Rancho's as an off rad 4x4 shock.

I bet you guys are tired of me an my suspension woes.

I've ordered the Hellwig from Summitt as well as polyurethane front ant-sway bar bushing kit. The kit is specail order so it won't be here for a couple of weeks. Bummer, because I want to install it first to see what difference it does make. It's only $30 so I'm sure I'll get at least that much improvement. The Hellwig front anti-sway bar is impossible to find so this is a pretty good alternative. I'll report, of course.

jmartinb,

My Hellwig is in! The front polyurethane bushing kit won't be for almost a month so I'm installing the Hellwig this weekend.

I think you said a neighbor did yours. Do you have any tips or tricks? I really looks straight forward since it replacing the OEM but any tips are welcome!
