drcarrillo:

i wanted to ask you one more thing. i don't know if you still are planning on getting a jl stealthbox. i was looking into getting one also, but do you think the new w7 may be better? do you know if they will have a stealthbox for the w7? i asked around for the stealthbox with the w6 10"...about $500. is that right?

thanks in advance.

Bling-Bling

Drop it like its hot... Hey how do you like your Flowmaster 70 series?? I am looking at doing that this weekend. Is it a dual out the rear setup? How is the interior cabin noise? Any input is really appreciated. Pics please.. As far as the JL stealthbox and MTX thunderform for our Expy's go. Don't do it. I tried both and returned them both. Now maybe I require a little more bass than some people but I think they both sounded very flat with no punch. I went with a Kicker Solobaric 12 in the kicker box. It is very small and really rocks the cabin. Of course I am pushing it 800Wx1 (Punch 800a2). Ubid.com is just to cheap.... I really think both the Stealthbox and Thunderform are highly overpriced for how they perform. I did not want to sacrifice any space and tried to go with them but I was just not satisfied. Here is a pic of the kicker.

2K1Expy:

hey thanks for the input. is it really that bad, the jl stealthbox? i was looking at 2 10" L7's, but is one 12" enough? options, options! i actually complimented your car in a previous post. i like it. as far as pics are going, i will have to do that at a later date, but will keep you guys posted.

the flowmaster is great. i ghot a 70 series because i have a newborn in the car. it is a single in, dual out muffler that isn't very loud. but you can tell that it is a flowmaster muffler. if you want something louder you can go with the 50 series.

by the way, have you done any homework on an intake system?

hope i helped and thanks for yours.

B2,

The AirForce One intake is great. Not only does it look good and sound awesome, but it also adds a few horses. I will try to take a pic later and post it. As far as the JL stealth box, you are correct in that it is approx. $500. However, I have heard mixed opinions. Some says it thumps pretty good and others say it isn't all that. Instead, this summer, I am probably going to be building a box to house 3 JLs (10w6 or 12w6) and an amp to run them. I am sure these babies will thump LOUD! I really wanted to keep all of my cargo area and make it look as stock as possible, but if I ever need the space, I can just take the box out. I also need to upgrade the speakers (MB Quart or Diamonds), but this will also have to wait. Keep us updated with your mods.

One more thing: What kind of rims are your 20"s and what size tire are you using? How is the ride with the lower profile tires?
Thanks in advance.

drcarrillo,

i too don't want to give up space (the limited space behind the 3rd seat). 2K1Expy got the L7 12". i hear that they take up little air space. hence, smaller box. will do more homework.

my 20" are the arelli bling-blings (wonder where i got my name). they sit on the goodyear 275/45. if you want to get an idea of what they look like, it is on a lighting on the cover of "sport truck" magazine. i think it is a may or june. socal had an article on its drop. anyway it has the same tires on it. i think i am looking into getting 285 later on.

anyway i got the 2001 lightning heads ands corners. just waiting to install it. i will update my signiture as soon as it is done.

also, what do you think about lowering the expo....any suggestions? i don't know much about shackles and hangers and the sort, so please don't bombard me with these terms.

thank you very much in advance.

Welcome to the boards.

If you want to see pics of the Airaid, click on the link at the bottom of my sig.

I like the Airaid. I think AF1 would be only if you personally liked the look and the extra $$ was worth it. I like the look of the Airaid and here at the online store Roger sells them for the same as the K&N. Best price I've seen yet.

Thumbs up

Roger sells them here at the online store for $199. I haven't found them less than $240 anywhere else.

And yes, I'm very pleased with it. To me the AF1 looks odd. I think it's the bend and shape of the tube, but I've only seen pictures. The Airaid looks great and it's solid!
