Cool

Ringmaster;
Take a look at http://fordfirestonewildernessatprogram.ford.com
There's some great info there. Basically, Ford is going above and beyond - - initiating their own recall based on their in-house investigation. The tires at risk (in the future) are the Wilderness AT's (old ATX). Bridgestone/Firestone make all sorts of tires that are as safe as any others on the market. Ford has isolated the problem to the recall tires.I also suspect there is a great public relations game going on as well.

Went to Costco last night to have my Wilderness ATs replaced with Michelin CrossTerrains. I've been thinking about going with larger tires...but, I had a nail in my right-rear tire. So, I was looking to get them off the Expy and Costco doesn't carry 285/75R16 in stock.

I went with the same size, 255/70R16. I paid $136 for each tire. On the rim and out the door in an hour. I've only put on 20 miles on the tires, so I have limited feedback. But so far, they buffer the bumps really well, and track nicely. If you want Michelins, better get moving. The guy at Costco said I got the last set of Michlins. The standing restock time is now 6 weeks!

FYI, on the news this morning...Goodyear has now stepped up and will perform the tire replacements for Ford. Looks like they are vying for the new Ford tire contract. Currently, they supply for with 23% of their tires.
