I originally posted this in the "other" forum as I totally missed the Expy forum!


The transmission in my wifes 2008 Expy EL has developed a "whine" when you accelerate from a stop and as it goes through the gears. It's got the 6 speed trans in it, I'm assuming similar to the 6 speed in the '09 F150.

The Expy has about 36.5K miles on it. I know my '05 F150 called for a trans flush at 30K miles, but the Expy manual only calls for a check of the fluid levels every so often and no mention of flush or changing trans fluid.

Any ideas?

 

I take it they don't want to take it under warranty because it's over by 500 miles?

 

I haven't had it in yet, but I suspect that will be the initial argument from Ford... I'm looking to find out if this is a common issue so I have some amunition at least. I didn't find any related TSB's on it, so I suspect it's not.
