Question Rear door child locks question

The child lock on the rear driver side door of my 98 Expy intermittently locks itself. Is this a problem that anyone else has experienced or heard of? Of course this is a problem that does not repeat itself when at the dealer. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

My suggestion would be to pop off the door panel and look at the switch mechanism to make sure that it is engaging/disengaging completely.
Other than that, good luck.

My '98 does the same thing. The side that locks has the plastic trim surround missing, so I'm assuming the lack of this piece allows the switch to move a bit, either over bumps or through closing the door repeatedly. Annoying to my passengers, needless to say. Hopefully replacing the trim piece will take care of it.

In your case, check to see whether the trim piece is loose or missing. If loose, this may be the cause.

i had a 98 and it did the same thing. now i have an 01 and one side does the same thing. i took it to a couple different shops and they said that the switch itself needs to be replaced because the spring has gone bad.
