Navi Steering wheel on Expy

OK,

I have a 2000 EB Expy. My steering wheel is starting to show some wear and i was thinking of replacing it. but i was thinking the wheels on the navigators have the HVAC and radio controls on it and it has the half wood/ half leather surface on it. If i put the navi wheel on my column will the connections work and also will the ford airbag and airbag cover work.

I don't think its a lack of feelings on this one, as it is more of a good luck on figuring it out thing.
I personally would go back with an all leather wheel...in these hot summers in Houston, the wood portion of a Nav wheel gets really hot!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do though.

Thumbs up I'm ready for a change too....

I agree, it's a "good luck..." thing.

Mine looks fine but I really miss the wheel in my Jeep GC. Much more substantial; felt great. These wheels in the Fords are really funky. Soft and get dirty really easy. They're like a rubber/leather compound.

I've got color samples coming from www.Wheelskins.com

Time for a change...

Hey Ride:
I had the Wheelskins gig on my Maxima wheel.
Really nice.
It took about 30-45 minutes to lace that sucker on there, and your fingers are killing you when its over....
If you are thinking about adding this over the Expy wheel, it will add a harder inner wheel bead, and will add diameter to the wheel itself where you grab on to it.
Later
Greg

Thanks

Thanks G.Andrews.

I should have my samples today or tomorrow and I'll see. I'd like a firmer grip!

Leather and Wood Wheel update

Hey, there is apparently a wood/leather wheel available for the expedition.
We just have to find out what the part numbers are for it.
See article - http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=10229

I know a little

Well I am on the same boat with you, my 97 steering wheel is pretty nasty and I plan on converting it to a Navi steering wheel. I already have the Navi wheel and have attempted to do it once, but I was unsuccessful. From what I remember you are going to have to do some wiring mods for the controls for the CC but I don't think that the radio controls will work. From what I have learned so far is that you are going to need a special steering wheel puller to get the steering wheel off. I attempted to use one of the ones that you can rent at Auto Zone and the one they had was not wide enough. So now the only problem I have is finding the part to remove the steering wheel. I did call my local dealership and asked them if they would lend me a steering wheel puller of a couple of hours and they just laugh at me. So once I do get it done I will post a how to on it.

Hope this helps a bit

P.S. Yes the Ford air bag fits perfectly on the Navi steering wheel.

Steering wheel

Here is a website that you can get the steering wheel for the expedition. You have to send your old steering wheel back to them though. www.discountdash.com It's in the show room.

There is also a thread on the steering wheel here it is.

www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.htp

If that doesn't come up search for steering wheel removal it's there.
