Unhappy 99 Expy Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I signed papers on a 99 Eddie Bauer Expy yesterday.
While driving it today we noticed when it shifts into overdrive about 60 mph it makes this freaky vibration like those strips on the side of the highway that wake you up. Needless to say my wife crapped in her pants and is considering back ing out of the deal. It has a 5.4 and only 45K on it. I need HELP!! Is this something like it just needs the fluid flushed or is this a major tranny problem? I am calling the dealer about it in the morning but I trust you guys that actually own these more than the guy at the dealership.

Thanks.

I have a 99 EB 4X4, have never heard or felt what you describe. Unless your on the throttle pretty hard it should shift into overdrive earlier than 60. Your right to get it back to the dealer, its not typical of them at all.

Well, My wife took off today and took it into the dealer(40 miles away) and after the salesman and the mechanic drove it they came to the conclusion that the transmission needed to be serviced. That was taken care of today and we pick up the Expy tomorrow after they do a few more things. Anyway, I hope this fixes the problem. If anybody has any additional comments they are welcome.

Yeah

Hi.

I have a 98 Expi and for awhile my overdrive light would blink while driving it and then would go off. I took it into the dealership instead of changing the oil myself that time and they hooked it into the computer and reset the tranny controls.

Since the tranny's completely computer-controlled, the dealership should be able to reset the system. If for some reason you can't do that, reset the system by disconnecting your battery and draining your power system. According to my tech friends at the dealership, that resets the computer and in turn the tranny controls for the OD and will even allow the computer to adapt itself to your driving style.

If you can get the dealer who you bought it from to do it, do that first, of course.
