I have a problem when I shift from Park to Drive or R to Drive.
My Expy makes a loud clunk. If I hold the brake really hard
the noise is not as much. My Expy never did this noise before.

I think there must be something loose. She ride okay not
stalling or anything like that.

I am thinking of taking it to the dealer to have it look at
since it is still under warranty.

Sometimes these dealers dont even know how to change
a timing belt.

Has anyone else had this problem ?

I hope that the dealer doesnot comeback and say this is
not covered under warranty and quess what you owe us
$1800 for a new tranny.

Lightbulb

It might be your constant velocity U-Joint.

Your constant velocity u-joint is between your transfer case and drive shaft. If you look under the truck you will see a star like piece where your drive shaft and transfer case meet. There is one on the other end too. The clank you hear is when you put it in drive the transfer case and drive shaft are clanking. When you put it in rev the same happens. It's the drive train so it should be covered under warranty.

Hey BIGCLOUD

Well I took my truck to the dealer for the clunk noise and it is not
U joints. The U joints are fine.

There is something internal in the tranny? So I am getting a new tranny hopefully this will take care of the problem.
Thank God is under warranty.

Thanks for your insight.

It could be the park gear disengaging from the park pawl, this is normal, it's just a huge hunk of metal gear and a park "leg" on the pawl that slips out of the tooth on the gear, sometimes it's jammed by the movement of the truck and it can "clunk" when it pops out. Just a possibility.
