New Expy V-6 Diesel
The new Expedition is due out in May of next year. The interior
is going to be more upmarket with better materials. The most
exciting news is the new Ford Powerstroke "Baby Diesel". It is
something I have been hoping for since my TDi VW Passat. The
new engine is a 4.5L V-6 Turbodiesel which will generate 235 hp
& 400 lb ft. torque. If my calculations are correct, based on the V-8 diesel, this new baby should get around 25 mpg highway. Add
that to a vehicle that will out pull the 5.4L gas engine, look out!
Also is going to have a new tranny. Engine should be available in
the Expy, F-150 & perhaps Econoline van. This is the kind of for-
ward thinking & choices that have kept Ford on top of the truck
& SUV world.
If the newly hired car legend Bob Lutz at GM is as smart as we think he is, Chevy/GMC will offer the same in a smaller Duromax
diesel for the Silverado/Tahoe crowd.
