Question Load Leveling Rear End

I have a 2001 Expedition. I found an on and off switch for the Load Level Rear end. Why would you turn it off?

Several reasons.
some people turn it off just to do it.
also if you put it in 4WL it will raise up about 2-2 1/2 inches. if you turn off the switch and put it back in AWD or i guess you have 2WD not sure, then it will stay there.

if you dont have a 4WD then there are still reasons.
when you park your truck it will lower itself. if you dont want it to do this then turn it off.

it is a very great system that they put on our trucks.

More important is for changing a tire. You definitely want to turn int off before you change a tire or you will just confuse the system. In extreme cases it could make it fall off the jack.

Also for towing! Has to be disabled before hooking up a torsion bar hitch system. It's in the owners manual under the towing section.

Read the Manual

After reading the responses that I got to my post, which I greatly appricate. I decided to read my manual. I pull a trailer with my expedition. According to the manual, while hooking up trailer you are suppose to shut off the load leveling rear end. Then turn it back on after hooking up. Its amazing what information is in the manual if you read it.

Thanks agian for all responses.
