Question Electric Antenna?

Any of you Expy owners have an electric antenna? I've got a SuperCrew and am looking to put one in however, wanted to confirm that one was available...

Thanks for the help guys and gals...

Nope, I don't think so. Up to 2000 they were the standard screw in. I'm not sure about all of them, but in 2000 the EB got an antenna in the rear quarter window.

Don't have any idea on how to do it, but personally, I don't want one. Have had several cars with power antennas and NONE of them were trouble free. I suppose if I lived in a dust-free world, I'd think otherwise...

Well, I figure if I can do it myself that if (and when) it screws up, I can fix it or replace it. Just need to know if it'll work first. Not sure about the clearance and such that's required and if my SCREW has it. Thanks for the continued help folks...

You probably need to be talking to a body shop, especially if they've had the fenders off similar models. They'd know how much room you're dealing with.

All you have to do it take out the inner plastic splash shield and you will see how tight it is in there to put a power ant. If it was easy to do, or space available enough to slap one in, I'm sure 75% or Expedition owners with them in the fender would have power ants. With a regular power ant, or even the slim ones, the mast will never be straight. There is a 2 piece electric ant that would probably work but I have yet to finger around and mess with it, not really #1 on my list of to do's. I'll most likely shave it off with the badges when I get around to it anyway. The splash shield is so easy to take out that you might as well do it to see for yourself, I think the screw fender is the same as the Expedition.

That's why I'd never make it as a mechanic. Taking out the shield is an even better solution.

Sounds like it'd be a sonofabooger to do. Not sure I'm willing to try this one. JC Whitney had one option that I say that had the motor remotely mounted however, the mast of the antenna was still the same length. I took a glance at the room that's available there and it certainly didn't look like it had much. *shrugs* I think it'd be a damn nice mod. Too bad Ford has made it nearly impossible to achieve.
