Just curoius, and this could turn into kind of a fun thread.
So what was your first ride and/or what ride do you kick yourself for getting rid of?
SilverX and I were talking the other day about some of our past rides and the fact that we miss them.
Mine first and second rides cam about 2 months apart.
A 1970 454SS Chevelle and a 1969 GTO.
The 70 Chevelle is the one that I kick myself to this day for getting rid of. I paid 2k for it in 1980 with 27k original miles and all the papers. I bought it from my grandmother because it was her daily driver! Did a full frame off on it and buddy would it rock!
I will have to post a pic when I find them.
This thing ran like a top and it was my baby, but then I got the teenage import bug in 83 when the new Predludes came out, so I waited for a year for them to work out the bugs, then I got a brand new 84 Prelude. Had it tuned by Jackson racing and it would eat 944s for lunch. Got the German bug, and traded the Chevelle and the Prelude in on a 86 BMW 325ES tuned by Alpina.
To this day, I kick myself hard, especially when I see a sweet Chevelle on the street.
The 1969 GTO was a blast, but it was taken from me at the hands of a 18wheeler who did not see it while backing into a dock slot at the building that I worked at.
Lets here it, whats your story?

why oh why did I sell it!!???!
My first car was a truck, a 1992 Ranger. I gave it to my dad, who traded it in on a Saturn... When I got rid of it, it had been lowered (now I have it right, a LIFTED F-250 SuperDuty!) and even with 130,000 miles, didn't burn any oil, everything worked, had COLD a/c, and was PAID for!!!
Wish I had it now, if for nothing else, the gas milage!!

My buddies pride
This is the pride ride of my next door neighbor.
Its called the "Drool Princess"
James takes VERY good care of this car and surprisingly, its his daily driver!
He built this puppy from the frame up, all metal, no fiberglass.
The fit and finish is awesome. There is no telling how many times he mounted and remounted panels, checking for a consistent gap between the panels, and adding beads and sanding where necessary.
Blood, sweat and tears (and about 30k) turned his first baby into this show piece.

I had a 1979 Z28 (it was the second one) but this one was pretty basic. No t-tops or power like my first one that was loaded. They were the same color too.
After totaling the first (after dropping a new mild engine in it) I always wanted to find another the same color but basic and 4 speed. Ironicly, along about 1984 I read an article on the LT-1 that was put in the 1970-72 Vette's. I had a fettish for the LT-1 after that. One day, I mentioned (after my new '84 Silverado was stolen) that I would love to find a Z like my old one. A guy I worked with said he had a friend with one and he thought it was simalar to my old one. I went and looked at it.
It was a 1979 Z28 the exact color as my first, basic, 4spd and had an LT-1 from a 1970 Vette!!! Even freakier, the LT-1 came out of a Vette that as a kid I used to watch running around the neighborhood. Talk about a small world. I bought it!!
To cut this down to a shorter story, I ended up trading it for a new Mazda pickup after getting in a bind and needing to have reliable transportation. Sure wish I could have kept it; at least the LT-1. That Z freaked people out when it hit about 7500 RPM through 2nd with the tires lit!! That Z wasn't built for something like that but it was fun.

Not myself but I berate my father constantly about....
'69 Jag XKE
'71 Camaro
'73 Cougar Eliminator (Mach 1 lookalike)
'77 Porsche 911 Targe type S
Granted I'm going on 40, but he always paid cash for the cars (you read it right, nice to own the company that buys them).... I pushed pretty hard for the cougar and 911, but as always ... no luck.... the Cougar new was around 6K, now in good shape 30+... the 911 new was 28K... now in good shape 30+
When wil parents realize that kids need them to keep ALL of their cool cars and not trade them in.... At least that's what my 17yr old son keeps telling me about our mustang I've been building - '01 with full Maximum Motorsports susp, Bassani x and Borla cat, monster stereo etc....
My response same as Dad's - if you can afford to buy it from me outroght when I'm ready to sell.... then we'll talk
