Headlamp Lens

I'd like to change my headlamp lens from the frosted ones to the clear type. Can anyone suggest a good brand to go with?

Thanks
John

Best way to go; go to a junk yard and see if you can find a Ford Lightning with rear end damage. The lenses on the lightning are clear. You will need to grad the entire light fixture, not just the lense. If cannot find a junker, can try ford, but when I checked at the parts counter, they came to about 1500 (that was with the corners as well).

1500 now?
Man, it was around the 500 mark (on the HIGH side) a while back.

That $1500 price included the corners as well. It was like $745 or so per side!

What a SCAM.

A year ago the headlights were $75-90 each from Ford and the corners were something like $40 each. Sounds like they are trying to eliminate all the red ink at our expense.

yeah ford should be investigated for some type of price guoging.

this time last year i bought 80 sets of taillamps for $50/set
50 sets of headlamps for $90/set
and 10 corner lenses for $75/set

then they went up to almost $300 for the tails
$450 for the heads and about $250 for the corners...

they told me that the head plant made them raise prices and that they were having to pay more as well..

turns out someone who works for ford said that he is able to buy the lights for ths same price as they were a year ago.....

Don't you lose your high beams if you go to HID's?

yes and no..

you have no high/low beam with HID lights..

why??

you dont need them....

it is amazing how well they work...

my girlfriends BMW had the HID lights...
it almost like driving in the day time...

i dont know how the light can make that much of a difference. but it does....

i just put the blue bulbs in cause i can see fine now and can find better things to do with $800,,,, like blow it on my g/f.... maybe i should get the HID's lol...

Thanks everyone.

Maybe I'll look into the HID solution if the clear lens cost so much.

Xenarc

With the Xenarc HID system, you actually get to retain your highbeams. What they have done is inlcude a place for an extra bulb within the headlight lense. Very similar to the Crystal Eyes headlights that have been out for quite some time
