I think that this is the best place to ask this question because they vary from F150s. I have a 1997 Expy XLT without the MACH but it does say premium on the lids. Is there a difference between the regular radio and the "premium?" Anyone know? Also, what is the total watt output? I heard it was only 75, am I correct? Thanks for the help guys.

 

I had a stock "premium" sound system in my '00 and Iwas told by people in the business that it only put out around 7.5 watts per channe. I don't doubt it.

 

I don't know about the radio but the speakers for the MACH system are only rated at 25W. For a premium system that sucks. Just upgraded all of the speakers and put in a new sub. Next will come a Amp for the radio and my wife will blow the windows out. Ryan

 

The head unit output, though minimal, is more than the speakers can handle on the Premium system. You get lots of distortion before reaching any ranges above normal. Pull off the panel and you'll be shocked at the quality of speakers that come with the "Premium" system. My '65 Mustang's stock am radio came with a better speaker.

 

Thanks for the info guys. I will take a look at the speakers later today. I didnt know that they were as bad as people say. I think I will get a new set when I get some $.
