wrecked navigator last night.. may be totaled.. hope not.. will know more monday

i wrecked my navigator pretty badly last night...

i was coming back from the street races doing 50 in a 55 when i hit a ditch in the road.

MLGW (memphis light, gas, and water) had taken out a section of road 6 ft wide 6 ft long and 2 ft deep..
well they had no barriers and no grate over it and there were no street lights so i hit it head on...
it split my front passenger wheel in half and the rear wheel is cracked.....
it tore the front passenger suspension out and it messed up the running board and trim...
plus it knocked my exhaust loose and my engine is leaking oil...
dont know if the oil leak was caused from the hit or not..

have to talk to MLGW and my insurance tomorrow...

i took a video of everything there to show to them.. i hope i have it back or have a new vehicle before WFC....

there was a water pipe sticking up from the "ditch" and it scraped along the side of the truck making a 1.5" gash in the body of the truck, mostly in the door jam...

plus i had it aligned last monday and now the steering wheel completely dead sideways...

the spare tire i have on is bowed at about a 35 degree angle and the driver tire is fine...

it smells like something is burning when i crank it up now..

also it makes popping noises, i guess from the cats, like i have been driving for a while..even though it has only run for about a minute or 2..

Sorry to hear about your accident. Being a roadway designer and having to do traffic control plans, it sounds like they should have had some traffic control devices up (barrels, barricades or drums with lights and work zone signage). Can you post pictures of what you are talking about and what they had up (if anything)?

Good luck and let us know what happens.

I hope you and any passangers are ok.

Too bad about the Nav, if the insurance (yours?) decides to 'total it' I suggest you visit the Nav BEFORE they cut a check and salvage whatever you can from the truck. Unless you have a special policy and/or documented every mod you made they will only give you what book value on a run of the mill Nav is

Though I am not one who likes lawsuits, you may have hit the lottery here and be in for a 'Full Replacement Nav' (new vehical, Modifacation money) and a little extra just for 'punitive damages' to insure that they clearly 'mark' their work areas with the required barriers, signs and flashers in the future.

Hey Stephen....................... Sorry to hear about the mishap

Maybe you should settle up and get yourself a 2002 Harley Davidson F 150 here, afterall you wanted to customize the gator, why not go after another project F 150.

I you should for any reason part out the Gator here, drop me an email. I am looking for a life gate license plate box for my tailgate.

Thanks and Hope you are ok and get thru this with thumbs up!

Geez, sorry to hear about it. Hang on to that video, if it's of the place you had the wreck. 9 times out of 10 a public utility or municpality will not accept responsibility and they'll drag it out in court as long as they can. After all, it may be your taxes they're using.

Sorry to hear about it. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. I only blew a tire and bent a rim, but it took two months to get a check from the utility company.

You wouldn't happen to have your factory tails for sale would you?

wow, thats really rough. if that happened to me i'd show up to mlgw with a bat. i really wanna see how the gator looks, i've quite admired your truck for as long as i've been on the board. if you needed some help, i wouldn't mind paying some ciz-ash for your sweet 4 valve seems like we should start a bidding war on your parts, to keep it living forever or atleast get me a 4 valve

From the description your lucky it wasn't worse.
At least you weren't injured.

I would contact a lawyer ASAP.. You have a strong case!!

You may be better off getting another unit..
The 03's are coming out so you could get a big discount on the 02's if that's what you want.

You don't want them slapping your truck together & geting it out the door.

As far as down the road - you would have numerous issues getting everything back to spec.
No harm meant but that's been my experience with having a accident vehicle repaired.

Good Luck!!

i was actually thinking today i would like to have one of those 2003's..

i called a call today and the adjuster at mlgw told me to fax them a few estimates on damage so they can see how much they owe me..

i still dont think they are wanting to pay though,,, i do have a lawyer through my insurance company...

im not one that wants to get something for nothing but they have really crossed the line with me..

refusing to look at my truck, not meeting me out at the spot of the hole, and making me run all over town...

ive already told them i have neck and back injuries. and i do...but i dont want any money. i just dont want to be out any money getting my navi repaired..

it is at the shop right now and i am supposed to go there in the morning to hear how bad it is...

ill take some pics while i am there.....
