DO WHAT?!?!?!? Actually, I have heard of this, but was not aware that it was on the Exys. The Corvette (I know, I know, a Chevy product on a Ford Board) I know had this feature (and I assume others do as well). At least with regard to the Vette, it was designed to be a "Never Stranded" situation. This way if one lost radiator fluid or something, you could get to some place to top off or make repairs. This was not a mode that you could select and drive around town in. It was only activated when there was a problem.

If Ford put something like this in great, but I would not want a 4 banger in the front of my truck! The thing is heavy. It would go no where fast! I will take all 8, thank you very much

Luckily I haven't had to do that but it's nice knowing it will. I think you're right, it drops to 4 cylinders to reduce heat. SOunds cool but I don't want to test mine!

Yeah, the theory sounds great, hope I never have to depend on it.

I believe this is built into all the Triton series motors. I as well hope I never have to test it. If it does it will be on a 90 degree day while towing the trailer. I wonder what it would be like with 8000 Lbs behind me running on 4 cylinders.

Better yet, feel lucky that it will at least move. Nothing like being stranded out in the middle of nowhere without anyway to get anyplace. If indeed it performs the way that somebody stated, I would rather disconnect my trailer, secure it, and limp my way into the nearest town to get some help. It beats the hell out of sitting on the highway without being able to do anything.

Form what I understand this mode 'works' by only sending the spark and fuel to each cylinder for every other powerstroke of the four cycles thus the cyclinder gets a 'cooling' gulp of air in between each powerstroke. In that way it still runs on all eight cylinders and on the but andds a skip to the firing order.

I hope that's clear as mud, it's getting late for me . . .
