Tire Pressure vs. MPG vs. Tire wear
Hello,
I'm new the forum as well as a new Expedition owner. (Just picked it up Sept. 1, 02)
I have a couple of questions.
In my old vehcile (92 camaro), the tire pressure had a profound effect on the tire wear. If I kept it pretty close to the manufacturer specs, the tire would wear pretty evenly. To low tire pressure would kill my MPG. Having just purchased this Expy (and not even made it through a tank yet), I noticed the manuf. specs say 26 psi front and 33 psi rear. I checked them and the dealer (or last owner) had all 4 at 39 psi. Currently, I don't have plans to be hauling any super heavy loads so that won't be an issue.
Any opinions on tire pressures for optimal tire wear and MPG?
Thanks!

I was running the manufacturer suggested levels for the first year. Seemed too low to me. I started running 32frt/35rear. The gas mileage went up 1.5 mpg. The Expy handles better and the tire roll was not a problem at the higher level. (even with these recalled cheap crappers).
Below 29 lbs is just too soft for a 5k lbs auto. IMHO
