Bad News For Analog Phone Service

I was informed by my cell phone provider (Verizon) that there analog phone service will be disabled coming this May 2003 servicing only digital phones across the U.S. This means all of us who have analog phones built into our vehicle can no longer use them making them just added weight (Junk). Granted in my area there is ATT that still might carry analog service but for how long?

I just got off the phone with the Lincoln service center. (1-800-521-4140) I am told that Lincoln has no upgrade package to Digital for there Analog phones that they put into there cars. This would be getting an 8-TRACK player put into your 2003 Jaguar! (Pretty much useless).

I don’t mid upgrading at all. Actually that’s what I am trying to do. This system has no upgrade path except to rip it all out. Steering wheel controls, rear passenger controls, head end unit integrated mike …. I have even contacted Motorola in hopes of just getting a compatible phone that will connect to my system.
If you know of anyone that has an integrated phone, Lincoln, Jaguar , Mercedes and BMW they all use the same system and will also come accross this problem in the near future.

man, that is a *****y deal. Really, after i read your other post in the other thread, i cant believe that auto manufactures still put analog phones in their cars. Espicially MB and those high line cars. Damn, i have had a digital hand held for nearly 5 years. Just get a handheld and eat the loss on the analog in your truck. Again, I hate to hear that Lincoln was so cheap on your truck.
