Expedition: Brake Pad Clips?

Expedition: Brake Pad Clips?
Anyone have a "rattle" coming from the little metal brake pad clips
(retainers) on the back sides and ends of the brake pads? I've traced
my
rattle to them clips on the fronts, and always have done my own brakes
but I
never use the (disc brake) type glue for the backer on the front pads
as it
has a very snug fitting clip but the retainer clips on the ends of the
fronts (where the pad mounts to the caliper) I leave them clean without
the
glue, should I be using the "glue" here to keep them from rattling? I
only
notice the rattle over the pothole ridden surface streets of the
concrete
jungle that is Los Angeles, running 305/45/22's ain't helping either
