Need Input Fast

I test drove a '03 F-250 supercab with the V8 today and it seemed very adequate. I don't tow often and when I do it's a 19' center console bay boat which is less than 2,000lbs. Anyone with experience with the V8 please respond and let me know what you think. There is a 2500.00 rebate and with X plan I can get the truck for about 24,000. Thanks in advance!!

tow? hell i think you might even be able to toss it in the bed
2000 lbs should be no problem even for a 150 i think. Im not good with the towing calculations but from what i hear people pull far more than that with even the 150's

You shouldn't have any problem towing that weight with the V8. My '00 was a supercab V8 (4x4, 3.73LS, auto), and I didn't have any problems with ~3-3.5K behind it.

You could pull that with a V-6!

I would say the 5.4 is good for about 5-6K towing realistically and with no problem.

My question is not if it can pull a 2000lb boat, but how is it all around driving. I only put about 11000 miles per year, so I really don't need a diesel due to a company truck. Thanks for the input

Thumbs up

My 350 is a daily driver. I love it, not harsh at all.

Both of mine have been daily drivers. It won't beat you to death, but at the same time it won't lull you to sleep with a silky smooth ride. It's a truck, and it rides like a truck.

Mike

I have a 2002 F-250 SD Crew Cab, V-8 4x4, LS3.73 Long Bed. I don't tow and I hardly even have more than myself in it. It works for me. You'll be fine in a Super Cab. Mine is just a year old yesterday and it just turned 9,000 miles, about 12.5mpg avg.. Good luck, George K

Thanks so much for the input. I'm sold on the V8, but now I can't decide between the 4x2 and 4x4. Another sleepless night I guess!!!

points to consider...

Do you get snow or do you go playing in the mud? Do you launch a boat on slippery ramps? If so, you can justify a 4x4.

If not, you will save money at purchase and on service and gas mileage with the 4x2 and it will probably ride smoother since it has coils instead of leafs up front.

All the 4x2s come with limited slip rearends, so that is good enough for me on the launch ramps so far (knock on wood )
