99 V-10 Ver 2000 V-10

hi i need to know if there are any difference from the 99 v-10 and the 2000 v-10. I think the dealer pulled my 2000 and drop one out of a 99 which has me already alittle pissed. I may ended up giving this truck back at this point unless they get there stuff going. Luckly this was bought through my bank so until we are happy with this truck we dont have to sign papers for it. This is to bad to because i love this truck.

The increase in horsepower and torque would be the most important change between the years. I am not sure if there were any other big ones. I am sure someone else will be along to provide more detail.

I think the only difference is in the power department, but I think the difference is like 35 HP.

Post V10 ratings...

'99 was rated 275 hp and 410 ft-lb torque.
'00 to '03 are rated 310 hp and 425 ft-lb torque.

Scooby,

Even though the dealer is going to rebuild and install you old motor I would think of walking away from that if you still legally can. Two reasons, first the dealer if they were trying to swap motors on you doesn't sound like the place I would be looking to fix things for me. Second, the fact of buying a truck that needs a new motor already could be an sign of things to come. Granted you might have a new motor but at what longer term cost.
There are plenty of used SD's ou there, take your time the right truck will be be along.

What was done to the motors in 2000 for the 35hp increase? I now have a '99 Super Duty Super Cab/Long Bed and would love to have the extra power.

IIRC, there were new heads, cams, and a timing change to increase the HP of the '00 V-10 to 310 HP.
