damp carpet

We recently bought a 1999 V10 and after one week, discovered the carpet was soaking wet, especially on the front passenger side. It was not wet when we bought it. I checked.

we returned it to the dealership, who kept it 2 days checking for leaks around the glass and found none.

We thought it could be the A/C. but since we're not using the A/C recently, I feel we can rule it out.

The problem is still present. Everytime we put a rubber mat or even the disposable mat provided by the dealer back on the carpet, it gets wet underneath. As long as we keep a plain rug or newspaper on the carpet, it is fine.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they have found a solution.

thanks for the input.

Yeah, my friend had that with his (then) new Ranger, except it was the passenger side. Niether he, nor the dealer could figure it out, but it was the dealers responsability because it was under warrenty, so when they had a rental available, he took his truck in.
The dealer has a few specialists that they call to come out and do things because they can do it better than their techs can. Paintless dent repairs, glass chip repair, and Leak repairs are a few of them. So the dealer called in their leak specialist, and it got fixed. Your dealer should know someone who can fix this, and they should have it fixed for you.

I would revisit looking at the AC. Even though you aren't using it, it still may be the culprit. The other thing to look at is if the rear areas are wet. If so, it is more than likley a leaky rear window.
