Shock Replacement

Can shocks need replacement even though there is no visable oil leakage? My '99 F250 has 93,000 miles and I do not know if the previous owner replaced the shocks however I have been experiencing a swaying feeling and a co-worker told me this morning he was riding beside me and noticed my head lights bouncing with every bump. I want to replace shocks today and was considering a monroe brand shock sold at NAPA. These are $50 each. Will I get a better ride with a more expensive shock?

Yes, they can. As far as the ride quality goes - I don't think it is really safe to say that you are going to get a better ride for more money. Personally, I like the flexibility of my Rancho RS9000s, but you should check the suspension forums for many lengthy discussions on the pros and cons of different shock choices.
