does VIN indicate the build date?

does the VIN tell when the truck was built? or anything about the version of engine? i.e. "revised" 04 6.0L??

Build date

No. But that should be on the B-pillar or the door.

thanks for answering first part of question but what about the engine?

where on the truck or engine does it say when built AND what version? How do I know EXACTLY what revisions i.e. a revised 04' 6.0L????

Take your VIN over to TDS and ask someone to run an Oasis. You'll get all the goodies on it. As for the '04 changes, if you're asking what they are, there is a list I posted here and on TDS that was reposted a few times. It's been a while but a search should get it. Supposedly the the redesigned 6.0's are being installed in the builds right now. Everyone is waiting for the first ones built in late Sept/early Oct. to see if that 9/29 date was right but further, how the new redesigned engine runs.
