'03 diesel....

I found one nearby for $33,000 it is an '03 4x4 e/c,leather interior, short bed basically loaded! Now I am a bit leery of getting this new diesel, as I have heard from many people that they have had many problems with them, I think it is "sport" pkg, put it this way the truck is red, so are the bumpers and grille, everything is red...! By the way it has the 6.0 in it with only 7,000 miles should that alone tell me something, I currently have a 2000 F-150 that I would like to trade up for, nothing wrong with my truck just want something newer and diesel, plus I drive 50 miles a day back and forth to work, the gas is starting to sting a bit, I figured diesel will get me much better fuel mileage, and more life out of the truck, let me know guys!!!! Thanks in advance.

Well Ford/Navistar has a great track record with the 7.3 and i have no doubt that the 6.0 will be the same. Mainly i think what people are saying is that you need to get the latest flash updates for the pcm. Other than that i think people are very satisfied.

Hi Bill

Good reports here, also if you haven't been reading www.thedieselstop then take sometime and do so. Starting back (search) 11/02 to current.

Seems to me with any 03 6L, you would want a report on it. If what your looking at is on a Ford lot, that makes it easier. What you want is an "OASIS" report.

That's suppose to show any/all repairs etc. done by an authorized FMC dealer via VIN #. If it's private sale, get VIN#, maybe someone here can do, or try TDS. Definitely worth doing.

Hopefully who ever put the 7K miles on it, did it responsibley. Plus is, it's still under warranty If private, ask for service/repair records, just like you would do with others. JMO!

Also, seems to still be a wide discrepancy in reported mpg. With mine best to date: 17.68 mpg solo. Towing 11 1/2 to 12 mpg. Some getting more/some less.

Can be cost effective if enough miles driven. Then again, gotta crunch the #'s. Or, just go for it

Good luck...OT

Well they gave me the old "the sales manager drove it" and he is the one who put all the miles on it, they said the truck was meticulous, and had no problems what so ever, I do really want to go look at it, but I am just not into the whole truck being red, the grille is red and so are the bumpers, I think it is a bit too much, though, how expensive would it be to replace the bumpers to chrome and same with the grille, I know its a bit ridiculous but otherwise I love the truck!!

Bill

Their selling new 03' 6L's (certain models) under 30K here. Certainly a great buy for someone.

Good luck on what ever you decide.

Definately take advantage of the rebates. I picked up my 03 XLT, SC. FX4 6.0 for 32K out the door.
