1999 F-250LD Need 4x4 Info/Advice! Help
Gentleman.
I’m going to look at a 1999 F-250LD 4x4 tomorrow. It has a 5.4, automatic and a 3.73 <B6> limited slip rear. This question is in regard to the 4-wheel drive.
Unlike most F-150’s I have seen this truck has a 4-wheel drive shift select lever. Not the “automatic” style **** found on the dash. Could someone take the time to clarify the differences in the 2? Do they use the same transfer case? Axles? I don’t see any manual hubs on the front, so is the truck I’m looking at also considered “shift on the fly”? Are the front hubs then constantly locked? So that your constantly turning the whole front drive train as wasting fuel? I had a few 4x4 back in the day and you could convert such hubs for better gas mileage. Just wondering if the same applies here.
Lastly as it has 7 lugs I am so assume this is the 10”+ H.D. Rear?
Thanks a lot guys, I just want to know what I’m in for. Especially as far as the 4x4 goes.
