Just got my new F250 sd and the front is a dana 60 but the tech book says it has a 9 inch ring gear, not 9.75
What gives ?

I think the book is stating that the ring gear diameter of the Dana 60 is 9".

I was always told that the light duty f250 (f150 7700) had the 9.75 and the super duty f250 had the 10.25

Your book is correct in saying that you have a 9" ring gear in your front axle because you have a Dana 50, not a Dana 60!!! All Super Duty F-250s and single rear wheel F-350 trucks from 1999-01 have a Dana 50 front end, which is only marginally stronger than a Dana 44. Don't feel bad, Ford fooled a lot of folks into thinking they were getting the heavy-duty front end that was in their 3/4 & 1 ton trucks from the past and pissed a lot of people off. After realizing this, they put Dana 60 axles on all 2002 and newer Super Duties, both single and dual rear wheel models.
