My 00 F250 diesel has been having a problem with it's idle in reverse. It wants to go dead sometimes when I am backing up with slight acceleration. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

 

I would check the transmission filter. I've seen quite a few trucks with the same symptoms you've described.
The filter comes loose causing the trans pump to cavitate. This creates all kinds of weird stuff.
