New F250 Or F150

I went and ordered my F250 today but will finalize it on Wednesday. Friday I took out an F150 Lariat 4x4 for a test drive. I like it better than my '02 4.6L but the rear seats don't fold down, you are enclosed in in the front. It is a very nice truck. I then took out an F250 6.0L KR 4x4 ride was smooth, good pickup.

Just looking for what others think before I finalize, I think I could go either way but more for the F250 right now. I am not looking for any bashing.

This will be the long hual truck (keeping for many years). Already learned that things change in your towing/hauling needs. I went from towing nothing to having a boat, 2 jetskis, and now looking at atleast two ATVs. Also looking at acreage in TN (moving to after I complete my service in the USMC).

Could someone show me something about the break even point for the F250, maybe some MPG.

Thanks for your time and help

You'll love the 250 with the psd, I've only had mine a little over a month but already love it, only thing so far that sucks is turning radius.

Mileage had been around 15 mpg, even after adding the superchips tuner at performance setting, really opened it up but mileage went unchanged, just put new exhaust 3.5 to muffler, straight thru muffler and 5 after muffler to stock location.
Have only run 1 tank thru but mileage went to btween 17 and 18 mpg, can't wait for next fillup to see if it holds out or maybe gets better!!
Performance also improved with th new exhaust, if I get on it it will bark the tires when it hits 2nd gear.

I'm in the same boat, deciding between a new F-150 or an F-250. I tow constantly, probably around 15-20k a year or more, which is making me lean towards the diesel, but then the 8k price difference brings be back to the F-150. However putting over 20k a year on the truck makes me lean back towards the 250, I guess its just a matter of choice. Both will do the job, I tow a boat that only weighs 4-5klbs. Let me know your choice and how you feel about it! Good luck!

I am sure I don't tow as often or as much but I took the 250 out for a test drive and now what to do.

I agree it is coming down to a matter of choice and cost:

Diesel
5000 upfront
more for oil changes
research shows that diesel has been cheaper for about half the year (kind of a wash)
everyone states better mileage
100,000 plus

150
would probably want to trade it in, in about 5yrs pushing wear and tear at 100,000 (I am guessing) sure you could get some more but how much

Either way I am looking at a KR loaded really leaning more towards the F250.

drove a 150 '04 felt boxed in, in the front seat.

I guess its just a matter of choice
What are your thoughts?

Anybody help with a break even computation?

EXACTLY my dilemma too!

I did a price comparison for depreciation and if you drive over 100K miles the F250 4X2 is the best choice. Depreciation is a far bigger expense than fuel!

I currently have a 01 F150. I like the way the new truck drives and rides, but the look is too Lexus like. I get in the F250 and it is a TRUCK. Even thinking about a 6 speed.

I didn't even think of checking that, do you still have that info available?

I looked at fuel prices from Gas and Diesel update

Would like to see any last info. I will let everyone know what I go with I plan on going in Wednesday night (est).

Thanks to all for their thoughts and info.

F250FORME,

Sorry for the delayed response, I just got back from being out of town for a week. After just towing out to Lake Havasu and back, I'm leaning towards the 250. What you put in the begining you will get back in the end in my opinion. If you want something that your going to keep for a long time and put miles on, go for the 250. I probably wont keep it more than 5 or 6 years, but it would have 100-150k on it, and there is no way thats any 150 is going to have any value left on it, where the 250 still would. Good luck with the choice.
