I did a 05 build last night on the Ford site, Lariat 5.4L, and it comes with the message center which does all that. Guess they made some changes?

Yes you can get DTE, etc, in the message center, but you need to get a a Lariet or a King Ranch. I ordered an XLT because I didn't want leather. You can only get cloth in XLT so I have to downsize to get the fabric I wanted, and the message center is only the odometer, engine hours and trip ometer. Thats it!!!

Happy Holidays

Power question. For you guys out there that have the SD with the triton 5.4, how is the power? I was thinking of trading my 97 4.6 f150 but just don't know if I can swing the diesel option.

Here are the specs for the truck I want.
05 250 SD
5.4, 6 speed manual
4.10 gears.

Is this thing powerful? I always wonder if the 5.4 is enough motor for the SD chassis.

There's always the V10 option.

I know, but for some reason, the v-10 is not appealing to me. are there any mods available for the v-10. i don't know squat about that motor. Do they respond well to mods, etc.?

I too have been researchign the V10 looks like here are a couple of mods that look like they work well.

1. Whipple supercharger adds around 50% hp and 50% tq
2. Banks powerpack (includes tuner, exhaust, intake upgrades)
3. Hypertech or Superchip tuner
4. any kind of straight flow exhaust like magna or dyna flows
5. Air intake upgrade

there are probably more, still doing more research..because i am deciding to go with either the diesel or v10 myself...those banks big hoss kits can easily get the diesel over 480 Hp and 850 Tq and the whipple charger put with the Banks powerpack can get the V10 around 590 Hp and 750 tq...gas milage and depreciation are going to probably be the deciding factors for me and maybe the cost of mods for it.

I am looking to buy a fully loaded Lariat Fx4 with a diesel or V10 and get around a 8 inch lift and put sum 36" tires with 20 inch Lexani offraod rims....truck in black of course with tinted windows... ...looking to sell the truck i have do you think i could get around 7000? its in really good condition with some mods.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I think I'm going to go with a diesel sometime next year, with a banks six-gun bundle. The reasoning is streetability, reliability, and gas mileage.

I was plugging some #s together today and the v10 at 355hp and 455tq...wiht the whipple supercharger adding 50% hp and 50% tq put with the Banks powerpack system which adds 56hp and 67tq put the v10 at around 640 hp and 815 tq which puts the v10s hp 160 hp over the diesel and only puts the v10s tq only around 30 tq below the diesels torque...i think thats pretty amazing...the whipple charger is around $4800 and the powerpack system is around $1600 which is expensive but sonsidering you pay 5000 extra for the diesel and then add around $3000 for the big hoss bundle your still below the price of the diesel by a good bit....true the diesel does get better gas milage....I DONT KNOW WHIHC ONE TO GET NOW!! I like gas because it is a little bit cheaper then diesel..but the diesel is more reliable and gets better milage....plus i wouldnt have the money to get the v10 and put the charger on it...but i would ahve enough tog et the diesel and add just the sixgun tuner....TOUGH DECISION!!!!! either way the 2005 f250 is a B*tchin' truck and with any kind of mod would blow the ricers away ...Any imput on which engine to get would be much appreciated!!!

don't forget that with gasoline and forced induction, you have to run 93 octane or higher fuel which may negate the fuel cost vs. diesel.

thats true...but a downside to diesel is that i live in ohio so it gets pretty cold here and you ahve to warm up the diesel to operating temp...do the engine block heaters that you can get from the factory help heat the engine quicker or what?
