Cool Superduty Drivers get Free Beer!! (stalling)

Sorry about that... Just trying to pump some life back into this board and maybe get some of you guys to start posting again.

I do have a serious question though... Is anyone experiencing a stalling problem with the V10? Although this has only happended about 5 times over the past year, it appears that on some STEEP downhill grades at low speeds, the truck would just stall out. It has done it in gear and out of gear but I can not reproduce the problem on purpose. It just happened for about the 5th time last week crawling down a very steep grade in a field in 1st gear. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows anything about it. Truck only has 8000 miles on it right now.

Thanks Guys! Happy Truckin!

Yeah, where is everyone? I just dumped the F150 for a 250 and noticed that there's not much happening here. Been to the diesel site- not much for the gassers.

Exclamation

Well with "older" vehicals, if you stalled on steep grades you could check to see how much gas you had and if your tank was low then you might assume that somehow the gas just wasn't getting to the engine because of the grade. But with new vehicals that's not "supposed" to happen. Maybe also check your fuel pump. Sounds like a far cry though. Have you ever gotten bad gas and maybe it settled to the bottom of your tank and only on the steep grades is when this stuff is moved around and makes it's way to your fuel lines. (look I'm grasping at straws here )

I was thinking the same thing Tina was..
it actually does seem to happen on other
new vehicles. In fact, here's that issue on http://www.edmunds.com 's july longterm road
test of the Jeep Grand Cherokee:

"..Trouble was, the Jeep wouldn't start!
Ugh!! For a moment it was very frustrating
and annoying. The Jeep was parked overnight
in the campground on a notable but not huge
hill. It was parked in such a way that the
driver's side was lower than the passenger
side. As such, the fuel gauge was showing
empty. If the passenger's side were lower,
would the gauge show a quarter tank? Who
knows? All we knew was that the engine was
turning over fine, but obviously not getting
any fuel up into the in-tank electric fuel
pump's pickup.

..What we ending up doing was pushing the
Jeep to level ground where the gauge came
back up to an eighth and the Jeep started
right up. We were still worried enough,
however, not to take any chances with the
Jeep suffering fuel starvation on a steep
boat ramp! Right then and there, while most
of the group got started on a fun day at the
lake, one person went straight into town and
topped off the Jeep's fuel tank."

Thanks Guys. I never thought to check the gas gauge when the stalling happened. I never run the truck empty, but I guess a steep angle could effect gas delivery if I had a quarter or less of a tank. I'll watch out for this in the future.

Happy Truckin...

I'd like to see more pictures of the Superduty cooler mods :-) I guess you would need to Crew Cab for all of that beverage.

Anyway..... Stalling happened again last night. Steep grade downhill, very low speed, started chugging in gear, I clutched... then stalled. I had a little under 1/2 tank of gas in the truck. Very interesting....

All you need is a power inverter and most of the bed of the truck.

With these pressurized fuel delivery systems I doubt seriously it is the fuel level itself. Maybe a fuel pump acting up or a partially clogged filter?
