I say to try and narrow down just where this noise is coming from. Do you hear it: When stopped and engine is in park, stopped and engine in gear, just when you're driving down the road??? Does it sound like an engine noise, a drivetrain noise or more like something stuck in the fenderwells or something wrapped around the axles or stuck in the wheels????

It sounds like a crackling sound on the left front wheel assy, like the tie rod or sway bar. I had my oil changed and greased yesterday and the noise seemed to be a little better, not so freuquent.

Cool

Not sure if this is your problem, but some of the SD folks over on Edmunds have found yellow plastic shipping shims in front springs/suspension that should heve been removed before delivery. Good Luck

It sounds like you have the same problem I had with my 99 F-250 Super Duty Super Cab 4X4. I had a popping noise under the passenger side floorboard. The dealer replaced the front springs and sway bar to no avail. They then discovered the the cab mount welds had broken because the were just spot welds. The dealer then welded all the the cab mounts fully. I have had no reoccurance of the problem since. I believe there is a TSB out on this problem.

Thumbs down

sorry i also have that problem to, but this noise is on LEFT SIDE, not right. i think it might be the sway bar bushings.

Sorry that didn't help. I have read articles where the cab mount welds broke on both the Left Side and Right Side. It was not limited to just one side. They also replaced my bushings first and that didn't help either. Keep us posted on your Cat Back Exhaust system. I have the V-10 and I would be interested in what system you put on.

THANKS DAWGCATHER, but as forthe exhaust im still not sure what to do until i hear one. i have gotten to many different replys on that subject. i did talk to a local tuffy dealer and he will put one on for $230.00, cat back with a aftermarket type of flowmaster on it, he says it sounds real deep when you accelerate and he will save my original. i have noticed that since i installed the k&n air filter the exhaust has gotten a little deeper. well if you ge any other info i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks FIREDUDE26

Had the same problem eventually myself, turned out there was a TSB 99-16-03 to replace "front spring tip isolator(s)." Revised spring tip isolator YC3Z-5586-AA which are white in color.

Sorry about the time difference from original post, just saw it and thought this might be good info for those looking at the archives.

Had the same problem on my '99' 250 SD SC W/V10. It was the sway bar bushing. They had a TSB on the problem, it fixed it. Still have squeaky front springs at certain times. Have had new inserts, etc. But still get squeaks every now and then, seems like one of those 'Nature of the beast' things.

I had the same creaking noise in my Y2K F-250 SC 4x4. I had the white spring isolators put in to no avail. My problem was solved after I had Ford install a new set of front springs under warranty. I've got the snowplow package with the X springs on the front suspension. Ford has updated these springs with a new design. I had them installed in Nov. 2000, and the front end has been quiet since.
