Post Tire Pressure for Best MPG?

What tire pressure are people running to get maximum MPG?

The truck is still new to me, and I think the factory/dealership set the pressure at 55 lbs. I was thinking of increasing it to 60 or even 65 (I think the tire can easily handle that).

I have the Firestone Steeltex 265/75 R16's (I know... they still need some help filling up the wheel well, but it was the biggest I could get from the factory).

Thanks!

Unless towing or hauling a heavy load, I run what the door placard "recommends". That is 55 front / 70 rear.

After I posted this, I decided to go outside and check the pressure. Turned out the every tire was low! So I drove over to the local filling station and pumped them up to where they belonged.

The other reason I asked was that in my '97 ranger I found I got better MPG with 3 extra pounds of pressure (which was within the limits of the tire). I was curious if anyone else had ever checked.

Thanks!

65 in all four?

I think I'm going to try 65 in the front and 75 in the rear and see how it rides, handles and does on MPG. Those pressures are within the range of the tire.. so it should be okay.

After a while, I'll report back how it does.
