Shouldn't be any 'major' problems with the used truck.. Just check all the stuff that you'd usually check in a used vehicle..

Not that you have alot of choice when buying used, but I think you would prefer the 4.30 rear end since your putting bigger tires on.. (the V10's come standard with the 3.73,with the 4.30 as an option).

Power: When I was buying my truck, I test drove alot of SuperDuty's.. No doubt the V10 felt a little bit more powerful, but not as huge as I thought it would.. (Comparing V10 auto 3.73, to a 5.4L auto 4.10). Probably alot of that was due to the difference in rear end ratios..

Good luck with your new truck.

Cool Tell me what ya think about this!!!!!!

Recently me and my dad have been looking for a new truck for me since im getting tired of my v6. we have been looking at the F250 superdutys alot and i have gotten to test drive one (supercab xlt v10 4x4) and i loved it. My question for you guys is what should i watch out for when im looking a slightly used ones? also how many of you have lifted your superdutys? My plans are that i will get a 6inch skyjacker softride lift with the triple shocks up front and some 38x12.50 superswamper tires.. I know that those tires will fit too because i have seen two or three truck just like that, and i could even keep my stock wheels....... So please tell my what ya think ....
OH also is there a real noticable deferance in power between the gas v8 and v10 models

thanks

Check out the forums on V10 v V8 - lots of opinions but very informative! We noticed quite a bit of diff. in power - we ended up with the crewcab, shortbed (156) V10. The V10 made a big diff. on the crew - not sure it would be as noticable on the ext cab.

Good luck

I drove the 5.4 with my boat on the back before we purchesed and it had no guts, so I got the v10 and it really pulls hard, thru all gears and accels with traffic. my boat is 23ft WA cuddy and has a large profile (wind resistance) and weights 7.5k. go with the PSD if I were you or the v10

Well after about a year of wiating for things to come together and changing my mind about 100 times on what I wanted to get, Friday I bought an 01 crewcab short bed F-250 4x4 with the 5.4 auto and 4:10LS. Took it to St. Louis this weekend, put about 1100 miles on her and as I knew I would, I love it!! As I have mentioned on here before, I am a Master Ford Tech. So I knew what I was buying. It had 33mi. when I left the lot and it now has 1098mi. I averaged 12.3MPG on the first 4 tanks. It has plenty of power for me. And I didn't buy a truck like that for fuel economy.
