F-250's throttle

Do all the 05 250's now have the drive by wire/electronic accelerator versus the old cable type? I'm not a big fan of it in my 04 F150 and wondered if all the 250's are the same as well.

The SD trucks have been drive by wire since 99 when they were made. The last year of an actual cable in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks was 96/97.

Thanks man. I guess I'll have to live with it. I hear the tuners help a bit with the throttle lag. I'm trying to decide on a 05 F150 or 05 F250.

A friend of mine has an 04' crew cab F350 4x4 with the 6.0 psd. His last truck was a 98 Chevy turbodiesel. He really doesn't like the throttle feel of the Ford. Dealer says nothing they can do.

Yea I think it's a Ford thing. Most of the ones I've driven seem to be a tad laggy. I know my 04 F150 is. I've hard the tuners are supposed to help a bit.

That kinda sucks. I wonder how much the tuners actually improve the response.

This isn't going to be as much help as you're looking at an 05, but the principal may transfer over. On the 99-03 SD trucks with the PSD you can make a modification to the pedal assembly to take out the dead spot at the begining of the pedal movement. It makes the pedal add throttle right from the start of movement. There really isn't any way to change things after that, but it does help. You can read about how to do it here

Remember, it's a "turbo" and it's going to feel like a turbo. Some are a little less responsive, or so says some drivers, but I have to say, I'm impressed with how mine feels. A tuner won't reduce turbo lag. Edge allows for low boost fueling but I don't know that I've ever heard anyone say what they feel is actually much better response at low boost. The thing spools pretty quick and once it does, hold on!! Especially with a tuner!

Sorry but I'm referring to the 250's with the 5.4L V8 or the V10's. I think the Turbo's are only on the diesel motors.
