Thumbs up '00 F-250 LD w/305 on factory rims

Well I decided I am going to get a '01 F-250 LD (7700) after test driving this one yesterday. It was a very smooth ride. This one had 305s on it which were a little wide for the rims. I am going to go with 285s when I get mine. I'll hopefully order it around December. Isn't this a beauty?

A brand new truck with 305's??? Or did the dealer put aftermarket tires on. I'm putting some 285's BFG's AT's on mine, but trying to find a tire shop that'll stud them as well.

The dealership put them on, with no speedo calibration no less! But they sure look sweet.

Yeah, they are too wide for the rims, thats why I am only going to go with a 285 on mine. I'm not sure what mine will end up costing. I'm thinking I'll be paying around 28 before tax and title because my uncle is a fleet manager and I get $100 over invoice on anything I buy. I have to special order the one I want because no one has it. XLT, Deep Wedgewood Blue, Dark Graphite interior, no sliding rear window, trailer tow and super engine cooling, manual transfer case shifter...see I like to be a little bit different. No, I like the manual shifter because I take my truck to the middle of the desert and I don't want a switch to fail and have no 4x4. So hopefully I'll be able to order it in December. Also, have you seen the new buckets on the '01s? They are sweet. They have recaro-like contours and the seat belt is integrated into the seat, ala Chevy and Dodge to allow easier access to the rear seat. Plus the XLT has a real ford emblem on the steering wheel and leather wrap.

Well if it was a '99 it would be a F-250, but since it is a '00 it is an F-150 7700 package. Most people still refer to it as the F-250 LD. Heavier Duty frame, shocks, springs, 3.73 gears, 7-lug, heavier duty axles, standard 5.4 and auto. Also, the GVWR is increased to 7700lbs. Confused yet?

DesertSpive: Since you're spending so much for the F150 w/the 7700 upgrade, why not just get the F250 SuperDuty instead???!!!! I can tell you, that by ordering, you can get the price way down there. True, my truck is a 2000 and I got it in Jan of this year BUT it invoiced out at just over 28k and that's WITH a DIESEL I know prices have gone up, but not that badly. At least look into them. You may find that w/the F250 that you'll be getting way more truck for less $$$$!!!

I like the Super Duty, but it is more truck than I will ever need. Heck, the F-250LD is more truck than I'll ever need. But for what I use it for, I think the F-250LD will fit the bill just fine. And I have no idea what I am going to pay, that was just a rough estimate of invoice from the internet.

DesertSpive: What I always say is to buy the truck YOU really want and it sounds like you know what you want It's a great truck that you're getting.
On another note: you can never have more truck than you need!!! Shoot, I bought a diesel just to haul my kids and pick up grocerys and ended up buying a 30' travel trailer

DesertSpive: I checked out that site. It's just a tad over the top for me. Although it wouldn't be bad if I didn't have the travel trailer to pull. Right now, I'm setting up the truck to tow and didn't want to be spending money on upgrading into a cat-back muffler. I am looking into VDO gauges, like a pyro and a boost. I've got the superchip (and it works great, towing or not) And of course the Powerstroke is already turbo charged. I've also just ordered new towing mirrors. Again because of now having the trailer, my reg mirrors just don't cut it and extenders look tacky (and they shake) So I do have a few things going on with my truck. Check out the events sections here and look up the pictures for the Norfolk rally. Mine is the only F250
