Delay off the line ????
Okay, so what's with the delay off the line in our F250-SD 6.0PS? I mean, the truck has great power after you get past that "nothing" zone. What's that all about? Is it just a break-in thing or is it a diesel thing? The truck only has 40miles on it.

Since the 6.0L is all electrically controlled and has the VGT turbo it shouldn't have any turbo lag. What you're experiencing is probably a result of the computer flash you're running. The 03 6.0L service truck I have (when running) was fine until the last time it died. When it went in the dealer reflashed the PCM to the newest flash it had the same symptoms. Welcome to the world of 6.0L trucks. After all the 6.0L trucks I've driven I'll never give up my old 7.3L.

I drove a 2006 for two days and turned it in because I thought something was wrong . They gave me another one for the weekend and it did the same thing. I put over 400 miles on them and they both drove the same from start to finish .Needless to say I still have my 03 7.3. One other thing I noticed is that the 6.0 searches from 1st. to 2nd. where my 7.3 stays in 1st. with tons of grunt. While I'm on the subject the 6.0 sounds too wound up at 75 need to shift or something?
Ford needs to bring back the 7.3 by popular demand.
My dealer has tried to buy mine back 3 different times says he has a waiting list for the 7.3.

Some of the comments will make a person laugh.
The "delay" is subjective when you're talking about it, but yes, a turbo diesel will have some lag. I hear the 7.3 had much less, but driving a 2003 7.3 I'm not sure how you could tell because it didn't have the power that the 6.0 does once you get moving. Also I've noticed that it you're stomping on it like you might do with a throttle cable controled gasser, it responds slower. I take it easier from a start don't "stand on it" until it's built some boost and it takes off mighty fine.
Oh, if you're racing it, use the brakes and hold it out to about 1400-1500 RPM (or as high as you can if you can't hold it out that far). I'm only running a SUperchips tuner, but I can come off the line and boil both rear tires through 2nd gear if I want to. I'd hate to see what I could have done to the stock tires.
