Looking at F250-350 Diesel

I am looking for a newer truck that can handle a lot as far as towing goes. I am looking at the f250 – f350 pick up trucks. What are the pro and cons of diesel vs. gasoline? I never owned a diesel and not sure what to look for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From: ....I could be anywhere....
#1...price of parts
#2...the maintenance
#3...the tourque you have at your disposal
#4...reliability
#5...as it looks now diesel fuel and gas are neck and neck in $$$$
#6...when it gets cold you MUST use diesel fuel anti-gel with every fill-up
#7...you really should "plug it in" to heat the engine when the temps drop below say 20 degrees
#8...it takes gallons of oil...not quarts
#9...keep the air filter clean at all times
#10...change the fuel filter every other oil change
#11...you will absolutly love it!!
#12...have fun

You mentioned you want something that will handle a lot in towing.
You can't beat a diesel if your going to tow.
To me that is the determining factor.
The great thing about diesels ais that you can hook up and pull a 10-12k pound trailer with comfort and ease of mind.
I hate pulling much over 4500 pounds with my 'gasser' F-150.
Then i can get in the Powerstroke and pull 10k pound camper at 70 mph with the cruise on and in overdrive!
The thing honestly hardly ever has to downshift. Unless you a pulling a pretty long grade.
Pure, plain, and simple- Diesels require a bit more attention to them in the winter but they make up for it in their abilities to tow great!
Unless it is super cold out like 0 most stations run blended diesel fuel anyways form about oct. to feb.
Last winter i think i only added some fuel supplement once.
But plugging in the block heater when below 20 is a great thing to do.
Good luck with your purchase and i don't think you will be dissapointed if you get a Powerstroke!

Thumbs up

I have an 04 F-250 CC, SB, Lariat, 4x4, FX4, and this is my first diesel!! I LOVE it. I had an 00 F-250 w/ the V-10, and I LOVE my PSD more!!!
I also have always bought the prepaid maintence program from Ford, and it is a REALLY good thing with the 6.0, as oil changes run about $100. I have no complaints. I have had 2 problems with my truck, and they were both taken care of. Would I buy this truck again? ABSOLUTELY!!! Wolud I recomend it? ABSOLUTELY!!! Go for it!! You will LOVE the 6.0.
