K&N Air Filter 6.0 L Powerstroke

Have any of you added just the K&N Air Filter to the 6.0L Diesel? I have not owned one before and have heard good things. I'm not looking to replace with the FIPK System just a replacment air filter. On K&N's official web site there is not an air filter listed for the 6.0L (03-06), but my local NAPA store states they have two in stock that they cross referenced. For the amount of money I've invested in this truck I don't want to take chances tampering with the stock. Suggestions please and thanks for everyone's help.

I wouldn't put a K&N filter on your truck unless you're trying to kill the engine. The problem with the gauze filters is the gause tends to not hold up too well on turbo diesel applications. People have pulled off a K&N filter after running it for awhile and have been able to see pinholes through the material. I would say if you're looking for a good filter look at Green filters. I looked at cutaways of both them and K&N. K&N was very suprising as until that point I had thought them to be good. The Green uses a cloth element which will filter better under high cfm applications.

Who makes the green filter? I ran the K&N for about a week untill i noticed the pin holes that you spoke of. Now i have The Napa Gold filter on it and looking for some sort of "better breathing" filter.
Thanks.

Green is the name of the brand. I bought mine through www.morethantires.com. I went with #2169 as it uses a 4" outlet, and its also one of the highest flowing filters they have (1440cfm). Its not a direct replacement for the one in the filter box, it just slides on over a 4" OD pipe that is used on most aftermarket intakes. If you call in they will find the Green filter that fits a stock SD application.

For the 6.0 there's really nothing out there that can match filteration and flow and be cost effective. Save your money, buy a tuner.

Put a AIR RAID filter on it with a edge tuner.

I'll go back to my comment about intakes on the 6.0.

Also, Edge does not make a tuner for the 6.0, they make in-line modules. The new module that's coming (or just came out) is supposed to be much better, but the Edge with Attitude has toasted many trannies. Great for hand shakers, but not a safe bet for Torqueshifts. Teh new one could be different, but you can't beat a good tuner (like SCT) that actually controls the tranny, not just tricks it.
