97 250 4x4 with powerstroke
My dad is looking at buying a 97 4x4 250 heavy duty with the turbocharged powerstroke. His 90 250 with the 7.3 has finally bit the dust. I think this was one of the first years Ford made the powerstroke. Anyways I have a few questions.
Are there any specific problems this year has?
Also the guy wants 10k which seems a bit steep for an 8 year old pickup with 180,000 miles on it. That's putting on about 22000 miles a year. The body is in good condition but the interior is really dirty and it was smoked in. Is this price high?
Thanks

That price sounds right on, maybe a bit low.
The first generation of the 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel ran from mid 94 to 97. So that truck is the last of that bodystyle with the really tough and dependable PSD.
If it is the E4OD auto, just make sure the maintence was done, and it wasn't abused.
The gen 1s arn't as strong from the factory as the gen 2s in the 99-03 Superdutys, but they can be made dragsters with bolt on stuff.
