Skirk is also wondering what kind of mileage a 7.3L F-250 would get.

On someother sites ( i.e. Thedieselstop.com, thedieselgarage.com) people are seeing anywhere from 17.5 mpg and 26.5 mpg. I would say an average for a new engine would be in the 17 mpg range (hwy and city) but make sure you break the enigne in properly or you will have very poor below average mpg... some have seen 12 mpg due to bad break in procedures...good luck

I have a f-350 6.0 crew auto fx4 and I get around 16 on avg. I have gotten as low as 14 when going on the thruway doing above 75 mph. When I tow my trailer which is only about 5,000 lbs. i got 12mpg but I was hammering it pretty hard. It all depends on your driving style. Keep it between 45-65 with little to no stops and you will get around 18 or better. If you have the mpg readout in your truck don't believe it mine reads about 1-1.5 high.
good luck.

Dad has F250 screw 4x4 harley and 20" wheels. Getting 13mpg pulling 5,000lb trailer dialy. Gets 18-19 highway without trailer. Seems to be a big mph difference between running 60-65 vs above 65--you will just have to watch it.

I have a 2006 F350 DRW KR. Haven't done much freeway driving, but the last time out, I reset the average MPG once I got on the freeway and my speed to about 65, and checked it just before I got off. Showed my average at 18.8MPG. Would like to have seen more, but considering I have the Tow Boss package (4:30 gears), guess that isn't too shabby. Heck, it's what I was getting in my 2000 F150 Lariat with the 5.4L with 3:55 gears. Then only 'mods' I've done is add a soft tonneau cover, and put 16 oz of Diesel Kleen on a fill up when I'm down to around 1/4 tank.
