F150 or F250 cant decide

Im looking to get a new f150 or f1250 but i cant decide. I need to see which one would be better in the long run for me. Can you guys help me out? I have to pull a 2 horse trailer, haul hay, pull a kabota 2700 tractor, and 2 to 4~4 wheelers and 2~650 yamaha crusier bikes. Im thinking a f250 diesel but since i dont pull those things everyday is it worth the fuel? What do you guys think?

the super duty is a great truck, I would avoid the 5.4 , the V/10 may be a good balance between the towing you wish to do and the extra +7 grand for the 6.0, I would avoid the F-150, all together, my 04 had issues and Ford turned a great work truck, into a great ridding car, if you want the power to move, go with the 6.0, if you question the expense of maintenance and initial cost of the 6.0, check out V/10...it's a 5.4 with two extra cylinders...2 + cylinders make a difference..

Around here, a diesel pickup is used to go strickly to the office and back for many people, it's hilarious. I've seen many newer, like 04 and up pull some heavy things, the horse trailer bieng the worst right? I'd do some figuring but for the most the 150 seems plenty good. No arguing the diesel will do everything no prob, and score decent mileage.

with those little loads i would go with the 150... i pull some big loads with the f-150 5.4 and it does a pretty good job. with my 02 f-150 i pull, 4place horse trailer, tri-axle with 10k on it, 4place snowcat trailer, . at the farm here we also have a 7.3 and it rides rough when empty. but pulls aload with ease

bigger loads in future???

I recommend the F250 diesel if you ever think that you would want to pull a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer.

When I had my 5th wheel/gooseneck installed on my F250, I notived that all the 5th wheel hitches had a warning label that stated "Not to be installed on 2004 or newer F150". I thought this was strange because the Chevy 1500 and Dodge 1500 we listed as acceptable.

I am not sure why none of the hitch manufacturers wanted their hitches on an F150, but it may be due to the frame arrangement under the bed.

There are lots of light weight 5th wheels that claim "Can be pulled by 1/2 ton", but apparently not a new F150!!!

Any readers know the details about the F150/5th wheel issue, please enlighten us.

Cheers,
Lee

That's a no brainer!! Get the F-250 with the diesel. It will last so much longer and pull your stuff so much easier. It's better to have too much power instead of too little!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were you, I'd go on and spend the extra money for the diesel.

Now, if you really want a truck, look around for a used F250 with the 7.3 deisel and buy it...look for something with less than 100-120 thousand miles, but don't let that scare you cause I've seen guys tow with them everyday and just change the tranny at like 250,000.

That's the best truck I can tell you. They last forever and Ford messed up when they changed from the 7.3 to the 6.0 in the diesels.

Good luck and really do some research, you'll be happier in the long run and you'll be letting somebody else bear the $6,000 motor package burden for you.

Look above (or below) on last F150 or F250 post. I have driven many miles in both, and am recontemplating an F-150 again... after just getting into an F-250. The diesels are great, but if what you haul is only on the weekends, the diesel may not be the most cost effective. Also, how long are you planning on keeping it? That may be a deciding factor. Diesel=longevity, but if you maintain a gasser well, it will last you well, too. It just won't get you to the stopsign loaded like a diesel will.

I don't see how a Chevy or a Dodge would tow more considering Ford (F150) has the BEST tow rating out of ANY full size truck. I think someone was misinformed when they put those decals on there.
