Talking Test drove a 2007 F-250 today!

I got rained out of work today, so what better thing to do on my day off? Go to a Ford dealer and test out a truck! One truck got my attention on the lot, it was an f-250 super crew 4x4 XLT with the V-10. It was dark blue with the two tone gray with the Chrome Package.

I pulled up to it with mine and just admired it for a few minutes, then of course a salesman came out to me and asked if I wanted to take it for a ride, but I had to be with the salesman. So we did.

the V-10 gets up and going pretty fast for this beast of a truck, but the only downfall I saw was the ride. Very bouncy on the pot hole covered Cleveland streets and the suspension made all sorts of clangy and racket noises down bumpy streets.

other then that, this truck is very nice! stickered at 41K.... I just wanted to get a taste of the power this truck has, and it's a very nice looking truck.

I think some of the bounciness you identified is a characteristic of the new coil spring front suspension. My neighbor has issues with his '06 F350 V10 4wd SC for exactly the same reason. He traded an '03 PSD exactly like it (w/ leaf spring front end) and he much preferred the ride of the older truck. I don't know if it will settle over time...some do, some don't.

Sounds like a nice truck. similar to what I'm thinking of ordering. Except I think I will get the Lariat.

You realize what these trucks are designed to do? In order to tug the monster triple slider fifthwheels, it will be a little bumpy empty. Better tires and blistein shocks work wonders. Also the heavier PSD will soften up the front end I've noticed test drivin the gassers.

Kinda takes a while to get used to the v10 sound, but I really like mine. Yes it rides rough, but like adrian said... it rides this way for a reason.

Keep in mind that the one you test drove may have had the heavy duty service package, aka heavier springs, or the slide-n camper cert, which is heavier duty springs, or the snow plow prep package, which is heavier duty sprins. all of these can make the ride when empty alot rougher. And as stated above, the 250 is going to ride a little rougher than a 150 just because it is heavier duty all around. They are made to haul and tow heavy loads.

I guess the ride itself didn't bother me, it was the noise that it made with the windows down. I was more surprised at all the banging around and metal to metal popping sounds from the bigger bumps that the truck hit. The truck sounded like a 15 year old truck going down a road with all the noises it made from the suspension.

Actually I wish it would sound like a 40 year old truck. My sig says it all.

Well interesting enough I went and test drove an '07 4x4 Crew Cab Lariat V10 last night for myself. It was the 156" wheelbase, or short bed if you prefer it that way. It was a cool night here so I didn't have the windows down, but I found the ride to be not all that different from my 150 Screw. The interior was esceptionally quiet and the truck felt very very solid to me. I really liked it. Unfortunately it wasn't the color I wanted and didn't have quite all of the options I want, but a close facsimile thereof. So it gave me a very good feeling of what I would get if I order it the way I want. I am crunching some numbers today to see if this will work out with my trade. Unless anyone is interested in buying my '03 KR? Anyway, I will keep you guys posted and let you know how this comes out.

I've had my 06 F250 for about 4 months now, and have noticed it really has started to smooth out in ride and steering is easier...I've been very happy with this truck, especially for at 3/4 ton!

How do you guys like the 3V V-10?
Thinking of getting rid of my 97 F-150 and Thinking about an 05 350 with a v-10.
My brother previously owned an 01 Excursion with the 2V V-10 and i loved it when it was unloaded. But they never seemed to pull his camper like i thought they should. Dont get me wrong, they pull nice and all but his 04 F-150 with the 3V 5.4 pulls just as good and gets better milage than the V-10 ever did.
Just wondered how the 3V was as far as pulling and fuel milage?
