Diesel Fuel

What are the possible side effects of running bad (old) diesel fuel, I've heard that it's not safe to buy fuel from small gas stations as they do not turover their product quick enough. That as the fuel sits it breaks down, is their any truth to this? Thanks

Water (condensation) in the fuel and it may also have an over abundance of mildew, etc from the higher content of water in it and sitting stagnant. I would definatly steer clear of using fuel from a station that doesn't have a high turnover in diesel fuel sales.

What kinda time frame are you looking at for breakdown. I use my bike as a daily driver and take the truck out on the weekends, but I always fill up at 3/4 a tank and never really let it get below that so it's always getting a little new. What's a good general rule for how long you should let the truck sit on a tank of gas?

What about additives like DieselKleen, are they worth running in a new truck?

When I filled up I added 1 can of seafoam to the front tank and nothing to the back.I started having problems (hard starting and running rough) as soon as I switched to the rear tank(the untreated fuel). I had read that diesel should be used within 30days of being processed.
