wheel dimensions on 2000 f-250??

my neighbor wants to buy my tires from me 305/70/16 and I had them on 8" wide rims. He doesn't have his manual anymore, and when I try to estimate what hiswheel width is, I can't really tell. They look slightly thinner than 8" They are the stock rims, does anyone know what width they are?
If they are only 7.5 or 7.75, will the 305/70/16's still fit alright or are they too wide for those wheels?
Thanks for any help.

I guess the question is, what is the width on the stock rim on his 2000 f-250 power stroke?

Stock rims are 7" wide. They will fit, but will not wear as even. He's better off either getting the right sized tire, or wheels that will match those tires. Widest tire for a 7" stock rim is a 285/75/16.
